What is AlphaType?+

AlphaType is a macOS tool for turning editable glyph drawings into working fonts. It manages the font project, metrics, spacing, OpenType features and export.

Do I need Affinity?+

Affinity is the drawing surface used by the editable SVG glyph-sheet workflow. You can also start from a new project or import a supported font file.

Can I import an existing font?+

Yes, TTF and OTF files can be imported as editable outline projects. Only import fonts you have permission to modify.

What can AlphaType export?+

TTF, WOFF and WOFF2, plus a typographic specimen sheet and webfont support files.

Where is my project stored?+

Locally on your Mac, in AlphaType’s Application Support folder. No account or cloud workspace is required.

Is AlphaType free?+

No. AlphaType 1.0 is a $39 USD one-time purchase and includes all 1.x updates.

What does the licence include?+

One named user may use AlphaType on up to two personally owned Macs. A future major version after 1.x is not included.

Can I get a refund?+

A full refund can be requested within 14 days of purchase. The final refund policy is available before checkout.

Does AlphaType work on Intel Macs?+

AlphaType 1.0 is currently packaged for Apple silicon Macs running macOS 13 or newer. Intel support is not yet packaged.
